Dylan, O My Dylan, how I do love you my sweet, sweet boy!
At preschool today, the 3 year old classes had a Mother's Day Tea for all the mommies at noon and I had no idea how much this day would impact me.
We were all seated at an assigned seat featuring a placemat made of a picture of my Dylan with handprints around it to make a sun and it said "You are my sunshine." The kids then proceeded to sing this song and my Dylan loves to sing! I have sang to Dylan every day before nap and bedtime since the day he was born. "You Are My Sunshine" is one of our favorites. So you could hear him over everyone. It melted my heart and made me so proud.
But I got tears in my eyes when I read the Mother's Day card that Dylan had made for me. His teachers filled in the blanks with Dylan's own words about his mommy.
The inside of the card read.
My Mom
My mom's name is: Miss Amanda
My mom is 67 years old.
My mom is the prettiest when she dresses up.
My mom can do many things. I think she is the best at... playing with me!
My mom always say... I love you
My mom is smart! She even knows about...everything!
I'd like to tell my mom...that I just love her so much!
Happy Mother's Day 2011
I loved the thumb print magnet and the placemat and the front of the card with his fingerprints made into flowers, but I love words and Dylan's words have made me melt.
"I'll love you forever. I'll love you for always. As long as I'm living, my baby you'll be."
Love,
Mommy
